Birthdays at Lula
Start the night with a tropical 3-course dinner, then take a fun beginner dance lesson with your friends and try your new steps with the live salsa band & DJ. Don't feel like dancing? Enjoy the show from your table - it's as much fun to watch as it is to join in the party.
Our dinner prix fixe includes any appetizer, any main (or go "tapas style" and substitute two more apps), any dessert, the beginner dance lesson, DJ and two sets by a live salsa orchestra. Lula's dinner menu offers excellent choices for vegetarians, vegans and meat eaters. You can see the Friday & Saturday menu here.
The price for each Friday & Saturday dinner prix fixe is $59 per person. For groups of 12 or more, the birthday boy or girl is on the house! (Limit of one free package per party of 12 or more.)
Frequently Asked Questions
We recommend telling guests to arrive at 6:30 PM. This will give your group time to enjoy dinner and drinks before the salsa lesson begins at 9:00 PM. The salsa lesson finishes up at about 10:00 PM and the band hits the stage soon after.
You don't need a partner for the dance lesson. It's really just a way to warm up the crowd and get everyone in a party mood. One of our Cuban bartender Manuel's signature mojitos is pretty effective in getting the party started too!
The salsa band varies from week to week and you can see which band is playing on a particular evening by searching for salsa on the home page. Band listings are usually posted about 4 weeks in advance but it's safe to assume that we have salsa starting at 10:15 PM each Friday and Saturday.
The dinner prix fixe lets your guests choose an appetizer, main and dessert from our regular dinner menu. For a few dollars more, guests can also choose other entrée options or nightly specials. As many of our clients prefer to dine "tapas style" we now also offer the option of substituting two appetizers for the main course.
Large Parties, Split Bills & Gratuities:
We are very happy to accept bookings for large parties. Please note that larger parties may need to be split across multiple tables. We are happy to split the bills for larger bookings, to a maximum of 10 cheques per reservation. This is to ensure swift service to your guests as well as to other groups celebrating with us on the same evening. For larger groups where splitting up the bills is necessary, we recommend having your guests pair up and suggest bringing cash to avoid line-ups for processing cards.
As is industry standard, an 18% pre-tax service gratuity will automatically be added to parties of 6 people or more, regardless of whether the bills are split or not. These gratuities are distributed among all our servers, bartenders, bussers, food runners and cooks who work very hard to provide you with a fantastic, memorable evening... and we are all very grateful!
Please inform your guests of these policies in advance so everyone is on the same page on the night of.
