Influenced by his Peruvian and Honduran heritage, Toronto-born vocalist Manny Cardenas grew up surrounded by diverse music from Latin America but was most influenced by salsa artists like Hector Lavoe and Mark Anthony. Having established solid foundation in traditional Peruvian rhythms, Manny now leads his own large format salsa orchestra that also takes inspiration from the recent international revival of Peruvian cumbia.

 

The group’s polished sound and unique approach to salsa and cumbia fused with bolero, cha-cha, and son has earned Manny a loyal following in the city . Also performing merengue and bachata, the group is a regular contributor to Lula’s regular salsa series and has been invited to perform at festivals throughout the region.
